People in a hallway so brightly lit it hurts, speak of religion, sexuality, politics in the lives of contemporary people and on the place of God. People spoke in excited voices, like in an airport, swaying away into another existence, more of what they had planned to buy for a better life. I left them, opened a room cast in white, no other color but white and entered within. To lay in there, and watch God, eyes on him for direction, to revitalize my existence and refill resilience

The idea around our Pre Wet 2020, a White White Maxivive White collection is characterized by a purist ethos acting as the foundation for the collection. The subject, EWG, Eyes Watching God, is based on the personal experience of Papa Oyeyemi which he uses arbitrarily in putting the collection together, from the running pastel colors aesthetic of the clothing to the morale of alphabets running in prints on an earth-toned base. Various elements, from varying stages of Maxivive’s past decade, are pinned to the mood board, with expressive colors on a test of purity, binding silhouette, and commercially viable garment studies were generally infused. A simple design technique was employed in keying the inspiration into the clothing with contrast, repetition, and harmony widely used in the final designs while laying fabrics out into pieces.
Shapes of fabric becoming various trouser forms, key element repetitive shirt types, jackets, cuts for an androgynous body are fitted with extensive flap details to give richness to the apparels within a form.
Putting the season in mind, a cut out, wide brim bucket hat was redesigned, adding an elongated shirt cuff inspired scarfs approximately 30 inches long for extra protection from sunlight. Studies for various commercial styles were greatly infused, the apparent Maxivive cult followers’ aesthetics are visible in each futuristic designed piece.
